Even if your property was exempt from filing annual RPIE statements in the past, a new law requires that you file at least a portion of the form if you have a ground or second-floor storefront.
The new law is called Local Law 157, the "NYC Storefront Registration Requirement." (The City wants to track retail vacancies)
The deadline is June 1st and there are penalties if you fail to file. You must file via an online form whether or not the commercial space was rented/occupied. In this case, 311 is a good resource if you call and ask for RPIE help. We discovered visiting a Department Finance Business Center is NOT a good way to get RPIE information.
The Sunset Park BID has stepped through the RPIE online filing system with local property owners. If you need help or more information, we'd be happy to share our experience.
