The Sunset Park Business Improvement District strives to create an enhanced 5th Avenue for both shoppers and businesses. One program designed to accomplish this is affectionately called the R.O.S.E. program – Revitalizing Our Shopping Environment. This is a mini-grant program which repays business or property owners a portion of their investment in façade improvements.
Since its inception in 1999, more than 20 buildings have taken advantage of the program. One business which has taken part is La Vaquita located at 4713 5th Avenue. The new owner, Danuto Sudol received a mini-grant towards her renovations of the storefront window, door and awning. The newly renovated meat and grocery store is cleaner and more pleasant for customers. Enhancing the look of a business shows the BID's long-term commitment to the community and the business district.
