The city's current plan is to begin the 5th Avenue reconstruction in summer 2007 from 24th to 36th Street. We can expect them to reach 36th to 65th in 2010. Of course, when you're dealing with the city there are no promises with dates.
Your BID office has been vigilant. We have monitored the work they did in Bay Ridge and we have been in constant communication with the city to make certain the process goes quickly and smoothly. Of course this will be disruptive to business, but we have formulated plans to give assistance to our businesses.
We will keep access to your business at a maximum. We will provide free advertising to let customers know you are open for business. We will monitor the work on a daily basis.
The reconstruction is meant to install larger sewer pipes and repair water supply lines as needed. A better street foundation will be installed to protect against potholes in the future.
